Today I had the great pleasure to meet a kind and gracious elderly musician. I attended a Gotham Networking Luncheon. Mr. Thomas was a guest. Once a trombonist
with Dizzy Gillespie’s big band in the 1940s, he first recorded and
performed his own heartfelt and idiosyncratic songs in New York in the
60s and at age 91, he still has an unwavering belief in the possibilities of life.
An inspiration.

When an old woman died in the geriatric unit of a small
hospital in Dundee Scotland, it was believed she had nothing left of any value.
While the nurses were going through her meager possessions, they found this
poem. This little old Scottish lady, with nothing left to give to the world,
left more than most could wish to bequeath.
